Orthorexia Nervosa is an eating disorder caused by an obsession to have a healthy diet, orthorexia is not classified as diseases such as bulimia or anorexia. However, abnormalities in eating patterns such as these are constantly going to cause problems.

Perhaps many people will be wondering, why a healthy diet may be the source of the problem? Surely it would be a problem when the habit has become redundant, as the day is only used to thinking about what to eat food in order to really wake up the nutritional value, it is called Orthorexia.

Dr.Steven Bratman is the man who invented the term disorder called Orthorexia Nervosa. The origins of the word comes from the Greek orthorexia, 'Orthos' means right, and 'orexis' meaning appetite. A person who has this disorder are too obsessed with healthy foods, and limit themselves to a lot of food it deems unhealthy or unhygienic.

Diet can be a great tool to fix some health problems but when taken to extreme dieting can turn into an obsession that can completely distort the rationality of a person when it comes to food.

Before people start a diet they need to understand both sides of their actions: negative and positive sides of the diet. Mechanism to develop an obsession should also be considered. When a person knows how their brain works and how it is possible to get addicted to things, especially if you're prone to obsessive behavior.
