Cheney Heart Transplant. Vice President of the United States in the leadership of George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, getting a successful heart transplant surgery, CNN quoted Cheney's office on Sunday (25/3).

Over the last 25 years, Cheney has suffered five heart attacks and countless medical procedures. Cheney said the assistant, the former vice-president operations has been completed and is undergoing a period of recovery.

"While Cheney and his family did not know the identity of the donor, they are very grateful for this gift," said assistant Kara Ahern in a written statement signed by some Republican politicians on Saturday.

Cheney underwent the recovery in the intensive care unit at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia. The surgery took place Saturday morning.

In 2010 he suffered a fifth heart attack since he was 37 years old. In the same year, he underwent surgery to help the heart pump installation still work.

More than 70 percent of heart transplant recipients in the U.S. are able to live up to five years. However, this amount is lower for people aged over 65 years. A total of 57 thousand Americans die each year due to failure.
